Specialist Biosafety Support

Specialist advice for work involving biological agents and genetically modified organisms, either as your named biosafety officer (competent person for the HSE) or as an external consultant to support your in-house biosafety officer.

• Provision/review of suitable biosafety policy and guidance information

• Provision/review of required standard biosafety procedures and codes of practice

• We can provide expert advice on GM and biosafety risk assessments, helping you identify and manage potential risks in your projects

• Advice on suitable containment requirements

• Assist with set up and/or sit on Biosafety committee or GM committee as external advisor

• Guidance and assistance with biosafety and biosecurity license, notifications, registrations e.g HSE registration of GM work, APHA license, Nagoya, schedule 5 etc

• Guidance and assistance with work involving ethical considerations - relevant human tissue, covered under HTA, LREC ethical approval for research project.

General Lab H&S Support

Advice and guidance on general laboratory health and safety issues, acting as named H&S competent person for the company or supporting the in house competent person.

Inspections & Audits

Whether you need a review, inspection, or audit of your labs and processes, we’ll tailor the approach to you, provide a thorough evaluation, and deliver a clear report with insights and recommendations for improvement.

• Provision/review/development of suitable laboratory inspection checklist/template

• Initial review of H&S requirements based on business activities with short report highlighting any gaps and improvements (for first time clients)

• Targeted reviews e.g yearly review (snapshot review of H&S management system with report), document review (review of documentation with the H&S management system with a report of findings with any suggested improvements), on site review (walk through inspection of working set up with report of findings with any suggested improvements)

• Full audit against HSG65 standards (on site inspection, documentation review, staff interview and report with findings)

Risk assessment
